Sanjay Dutt, who made his comeback to the silver screen last year with Bhoomi, was reportedly approached for Abhishek Varman’s next directorial to be produced by Dharma Productions. However, according to reports, the actor has opted out of the film. Initially, Sanjay Dutt was to be cast opposite the late Sridevi, who reportedly had given her nod to the project. But, due to her untimely demise, the makers of the movie approached Madhuri Dixit to play her role in the film. As per reports, Sanjay Dutt wasn’t too keen to work with the Dhak dhak girl and hence opted out of the film.
Now with Sanjay Dutt out of the picture, the makers have begun their search to find a replacement in the film.
Apparently, Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor seem to be the frontrunners. A source told a leading daily that Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor are being considered for the role now. ”Jackie, who has been paired opposite Madhuri in several films, is being considered as the next option in case Anil doesn’t manage to adjust his dates. Anil has been excited by a digital project. He may have to let that go if he signs this movie. So, he’s in two minds,” a source said.
Still puzzled situation
According to the grapevine, the film also stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt along with Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in prominent roles. Reportedly, Varun and Aditya will be seen playing brothers who share a tense relationship, whereas Madhuri will be seen playing Alia’s mother.
The film is reported to be a period film and will be directed by Abhishek Varman.
Recently, Varun posted a video on Instagram where he was seen at the Dharma office and Shiddat was written on a white board. He was present with Abhishek Varman, who is reportedly directing the film and director Shashank Khaitan.
Karan Johar cleared the air
Karan Johar on Twitter saying that the film with Madhuri Dixit, which is Abhishek Varman’s next is not Shiddat. “Some clarifications!!! Yes…we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!,” he posted.
Apart from this Anil and Madhuri will also feature together in Total Dhamaal. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaffrey.
