Rajkumar Hirani wanted me to play Dutt saab’s role:

Aamir Khan shares his experience in Bollywood and also talks about the Rajukaumar Hirani’s upcoming film ‘Sanju’. Aamir Khan says he was offered to play the role of late Sunil Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani’s “Sanju”, the upcoming biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt, but he refused it only because he wanted to essay the title character. Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju will release next month.

In a press conference, “Rajkumar Hirani approached me with the script and I loved it. He wanted me to play Dutt saab’s role. It is a fantastic role and the story is largely on the father-son relationship. But Sanju’s role is unbelievable. So as an actor, I told Raju that Sanjay Dutt’s role is so wonderful that it won my heart. So in this film I can’t do any other role but Sanjay Dutt’s, which of course I cannot do because Ranbir (Kapoor) is playing it. So, do not offer me anything.”

Aamir said that Rajkumar Hirani offered him a good role of the late actor politician and it had many layers as it traced a rather complicated relationship between the father and his prodigal son but the only character which totally excited him was Ranbir’s key role.

SANJU might include some such incidents of Sanjay Dutt’s devil-may-care attitude, largess, or the experiences in the matters of the heart that Dutt himself spoke about in television shows such as “Koffee with Karan”. The trailer of film SANJU will be released online on May 30 and film will hit the theatres on June 29. But, it’s being said the trailer will be officially attached with Salman Khan’s Race 3.
