National Award winning Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, on being asked by the censor board to do a few cuts from his upcoming film “Indu Sarkar”, says he doesn’t wish to make any changes in his film as he fears that the essence of his movie may get affected.

The film was recently screened for the The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) .

  • He said he would approach the Revising Commitee.
  • Bhandarkar said that if the revising committee does not clears Indu.
  • He would not hesistate to approach the Tribunal.
  • Indu Sarkar is based on the 1975-77 Emergency and has characters inspired by Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi.
  • Starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari, Supriya Vinod, Anupam Kher and Tota Roy Chowdhury.
  • It is already a topic of debates and discussion for the Congress Party.
  • Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam had last week penned a letter to CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani.
  • Asking for the movie to be screened for them before it is censored,for which Madhur clearly denied.

Film shows the conflicts of two different ideologies:

  • The movie faced much hatred in Lucknow lately.
  • Congress members were seen burning posters of Madhur Bhandarkar.
  • They claimed that the movie denigrates the reputation of Nehru Gandhi and his family.
  • According to Bhandarkar’s words earlier ,’I have no agenda to promote any specific political ideology.
  • The film is shows the conflicts of two different ideologies on the Emergency.
  • He adds up that ‘Indu Sarkar’ does not belongs to any political party .
  • This Film is set to release on July 28.
