The official handle of Fox Star Hindi dropped a BTS video, celebrating the one year of Dil Bechara. The caption read, “One Year Of Dil Bechara…To movies that win our hearts! Coming of age romantic drama, Dil Bechara, makred Mukesh Chhabra’s directorial debut, and produced by Fox Star Studios, with a script written by Shashank Khaitan and Suprotim Sengputa.
The film, an adaptation of John Green’s 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars, starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi as terminal cancer patients. The film marks Rajput’s final and posthumous appearance following his death on 14 June 2020.
The film also starred Sahil Vaid, Saswata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Sunit Tandon, Saif Ali Khan, Michael Muthu, Rajie Vijay Sarathy and Subbalakshmi.
In honour of Rajput, the film was made accessible without subscription in India and selective countries on the platform. The film received generally positive reviews from critics who praised the running time, the performances of Rajput and Sanghi, story, characterisations, soundtrack, cohesion, screenplay but criticised the lack of emotional depth and direction.
