Rani Mukerji’s Hichki continues its phenomenal run at the box office. Despite Ajay Devgn’s Raid, the school drama managed to attract a huge chunk of audience thanks to its powerful and relevant content.

The film raked in Rs 2.60 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 22.70 crore.

Made on the reasonable budget of Rs 20 crore including promotion and advertising, the film had recovered its budget before its release through satellite, digital and music rights.

Talking about Rani’s character, she plays the character of Naina Mathur who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds.

Since Baaghi 2 is hitting the screens this Friday, Hichki will face a huge screen crunch at the ticket window.

Despite having a niche appeal, Hichki has managed to perform well at the box office due to positive word of mouth from the audience. The film also garnered rave reviews from the critics unanimously. Our critic Urmimala Banerjee gave the film three stars and said, “Hichki might be a tad predictable and not as emotional as a Taare Zameen Par but it is a very well-meaning film that has its heart in the right place. It is an insight into how a good teacher can make a difference for a lifetime.”
