‘Ab Tak Chappan’ writer Ravi Shankar Alok, dies allegedly on Wednesday.

About Ravi Shankar Alok
He was one of the best-known proponents of the Sitar in the second half of the 20th century
and influenced many other musicians throughout the world.
Talking about his Achievements- In 1999, Shankar was awarded India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna
Shankar was born to a Bengali family in India,
and spent his youth touring India and Europe with the dance group of his brother Uday Shankar.
He gave up dancing in 1938 to study sitar playing under court musician Allauddin Khan.
After finishing his studies in 1944, Shankar worked as a composer,
creating the music for the Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Arya,
and was music director of All India Radio, New Delhi, from 1949 to 1956.
Writer committed suicide in Mumbai
Ravi Shankar Alok who was a 32-year-old screenplay writer allegedly committed suicide in Mumbai on Wednesday, police said.
Alok, a resident of Seven Bungalows area in Andheri West, ended his life by jumping off from the roof of the building where he lived at around 2 PM on Wednesday, a police official said.
Screenplay writer Ravi Shankar Alok was reportedly involv in the writing of Nana Patekar-starrer ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, he adds.
There is No suicide note on his body or in his house, the official added.

As per the preliminary information, he was suffering from depression and was undergoing psychiatric treatment, he said.
Suburban Versova Police are conducting further probe.
The Watchman of the society Reports that the writer’s parents recently stay with him,
for a couple of days and left for Patna where the family belongs.
Building’s watchman also reveals that the terrace of the building is usually lock
and he is unaware of how Alok got access to this area.
