Chandrayaan-2 is a follow-up mission of Chandrayaan 1 but it is more ambitious as the mission will soft-land on the moon surface. If successful, India will be the fourth country in the world to soft-land on the moon. It will land in the south pole of the lunar surface.

The mission would be launched by ISRO’s most capable launching vehicle Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk-III). Chandrayaan 2 will carry a rover and a lander along with an orbiter.
