With the goal of improving the healthcare in the community and appraising the fraternity of the rapidly changing and newer concepts in the specialty and the super specialty, GYNECON-2018 – a Continuing Medical Education Programme on Controversies in Obstetrics & Gynecology – is being conducted at the Command Hospital Central Command Lucknow on 20-21 Sep 2018.
“GYNECON-2018″ ON CONTROVERSIES IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
Doctors, mostly young specialists in Obstetrics & Gynecology, from the Armed Forces Tri services like. Army, Air Force and the Navy from all over the country and civilian delegates and eminent professors from Lucknow, neighboring towns and cities attended the first day of the program.
The Continuing Medical Education was inaugurated after Col. AS Dhillon, organizing Chairperson introduced the event to the audience.

The Chief guest Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chopra, Senior most Gynecologist of the Armed Forces, spoke of the challenges faced by the Service gynecologists who work in remote area in difficult terrain from where evacuation and providing high quality care at times is a problem.
He stressed that the severity of the disease does not see the remoteness of the place and challenging cases happen all over the nation.
The service Gynecologists apart from treating their entitled clientele are often tasked to treat critically ill cases from the civil as part of OP SADHBHAWANA and deliver the goods despite the challenges peculiar to the place they are posted.
Lt General Sanjiv Chopra stated:
“It is vital for tertiary care hospitals like Command Hospital Lucknow to update doctors practicing at community level with the latest knowledge through carefully planned CMEs like GYNECON 2018,” said Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chopra.
“These programs are of immense values to the young specialists and postgraduate students who are preparing for their exams”, he added.
All the super specialty branches including Assisted Reproductive Technology dealing with infertility, Gynae Oncology, General Obstetrics and General Gynecology were deliberated upon by eminent speakers and panelist from the Armed Forces and their civilian counterparts.
These included talks by Dr. Uma Singh who spoke on Current Concepts in screening of Cancer Cervix,
Dr. Vinita Das, Professor and Head Queen Mary Hospital KGMU addressing the controversial topic of Management of Diabetes during Pregnancy,
Dr. Mandakini Pradhan elucidated on emerging sub super specialties and the need to cater separately,
Dr. Shubha Phadke spoke on Genetics for Gynecologists and many other eminent speakers enlightened the gathering for CME.
The inaugural day of the CME was highly appreciated by the participants who praised the educational value of the events conducted.
