An impressive valedictory function was held at Basic Flying Training School (BFTS)in Air Force Station Bamrauli, where Allahabad to mark the successful completion of flying training to 25 Army Aviators of 201 Army Pilots Course.

These aviators went through a course of rigorous flying and ground training during the past five months.

BFTS stands for

Basic Flying Training School is a premier flying training establishment of the IndianAir Force located at Allahabad.

It was established on 16 Dec 1987 to impart ab – initio training to pilots on HPT-32 aircraft.

The school changed its role fromtraining Flight Cadets of Indian Air Force to training officers of the Indian Army, Navy andCoast Guard On 05 Jul 1999.

The school was re-equipped with Chetak helicopters on 26 Dec 2005 forimparting ab-initio flying training to Army officers on helicopters.

Air Commondore

The Air Commodore Shankar Srivastava, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Bamrauli was the reviewing officer for the valedictory function.

He was received by Wing Commander Amit Jain, Vayusena Medal, Commanding Officer of Basic Flying TrainingSchool, AF.

Air Commodore Shankar Srivastava is an alumnus of prestigious Defence Services Staff College and is a Qualified Flying Supervisor.

He was commissioned into Helicopter stream of Indian Air Force in June 1987.

He has more than 4500 hours of flying to his credit on various types of helicopters in his career spanning over 30 years.

Air Officer held a number of Command

The Air Officer held a number of Command and Staff appointments that includes Command of a Heavy Lift Mi-26 Helicopter Unit and a Mi-17 Helicopter Squadron during UN Peace Keeping Mission at Congo besides commanding a premier Air Force Station and various important appointments at Command and Air Head Quarters.

At the time of valedictory function, Air Commodore S Srivastava presented certificates to the graduating officers and trophies to those who excelled during the course of training.

The Captain Varun Oak was awarded trophy for being first in Flying, first in Ground Subjects and also the trophy for Best Overall Performance.

Best Instructor Trophy goes to

Squadron Leader Amit Badyal was awarded the trophy for the Best Instructor.
