Moonrise Timing for Karwa Chauth 2019 in Uttar Pradesh: Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth is a one-day festival celebrated by Hindu women in India. In 2019, Karva Chauth will be celebrated on October 17. The festival, which is majorly celebrated in northern India, falls on the fourth day after the full moon purnima (a full moon) in the month of Kartika, which is October. It must be noted that the dates may differ every year according to the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the married women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. The Pooja Mahurat for Karwa Chauth will begin at 06:53 PM to 08:13 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The Karwa Chauth day is also known as Karak Chaturthi. Karwa or Karak refers to the earthen pot through which water offering, known as Argha made to the moon. Karwa, i.e. the pot, is very significant during Puja and it is also given as Dan to the Brahmin or any eligible woman.

Indians settled all across the world whose family had a tradition of following Karwa Chauth would also celebrate this festival with great fervour. On the day of Karwa Chauth, married women worship Lord Shiva and His family including Lord Ganesha and break the fast only after sighting and making the offerings to the moon.
