The Daan Utsav, which was earlier called the Joy of Giving Week, is India’s ‘festival of giving’. Launched in 2009, the festival is celebrated every year from October 2 to 8 and encourages individuals, corporate and civil societies and organisations to participate and get involved in activities, which involve giving and helping the underprivileged.

  • As part of the DaanUtsav this year, more than 75 NGOs from across the State and KGMU doctors came together for a ‘SewaMela’ Saidanpur village distt Barabanki.
  • The mela has been conceptualized to give a platform for NGOs,
  • philanthropists, individuals and educational institutions to speak to the
  • public about the social work they have been involved in.
  • The main attraction of the SewaEela was the free medical camps on various issues, set up there by KGMU doctors.
  • Today ,i.e. on the 3rd day of the Dan utsav week, alot of activites were conducted accross the city.
  • Which include “chalo bhookh mitaayen” campaign, Tree plantation campaign,
  • save paper save trees drive and many other such programs.
  • These activities were conducted by different organisations namely
  • Team with a dream, LIVE ,Swatantra Talim, Eeshwar foundation, Prithvi innovations and so on.

Children at the Aashiana center of SwatantraTalim exchanged gifts and spoke about their friends about the joy of giving during DaanUtsav. The kids learnt about the happiness experienced in helping and making others happy .

The SewaMela:

  • Daan Utsav Saidanpur Sewa Mela was conducted at Saidanpur village district Barabanki whcih had various activities .
  • The sewamela was a great success due the hard working and active volunteers.
  • Various medical camps were organised by KGMU doctors.
  • In addition , legal awareness camp was organised by Siddharth Narayan.
  • A Dental checkup camp was conducted DrSmitaGovila and team in coordination with Govila Dental.
  • Storytelling session was conducted by FarhanUsmani which was supported by Digital Empowerment Foundation,
  • Eye Bank & Eye pledges, health and hygiene awareness camps were organised by Dr Smita Govila and team, Vasudev Bajpai, Indus Action team, Farhan Usmani, Saba.

Furthermore, Doctors from KGMU include Dr Shruti Srivastava, Shazia Khan and Dr Jeetendra.
